Our staff is caring, courteous, efficient, and knowledgeable about your pet’s care, treatments, and special needs. Both you and your pet will find the hospital clean, comfortable and professional.

Your pet’s care is always our number one concern. We’ll be straight-forward and honest with you at all times regarding your pet’s condition and needs. When a health issue arises, we will discuss all possible treatment options with you and suggest the course of action we feel is best suited to the situation.

    DR. Steve Safris, DVM
    Veterinarian

    Education: Augustana College. Iowa State University
    Doctor Safris was born and raised in central Iowa. He graduated from Urbandale High School in 1993 and went on to Augustana College in Illinois, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in biology in 1997.
    In 2001, he finished graduate school at Iowa State University with a doctorate in veterinary medicine. He practiced for two years in Ames before returning to the Des Moines area to open Westfield Veterinary Hospital.
    Dr. Safris and his wife Kate and children Luke, Ali and Will, live in Johnston with their multiple pets.

    Dr. Caryn Paulin, DVM
    Veterinarian

    Education: Iowa State University
    Doctor Paulin was born and raised in northwest Iowa. She graduated from Schaller-Crestland in 1992 and went on to Iowa State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in animal science in 1996.
    In 2000, she finished graduate school at ISU with a doctorate in veterinary medicine. She practiced for six years at Avondale Animal Hospital in Des Moines before joining the staff at Westfield Veterinary Hospital.
    Dr. Paulin, her husband John and children Sam and Max, live in Madrid with their dog, Pearl.

    Tera L. Dupuy, DVM
    Veterinarian

    Doctor Dupuy has spent most of her life living in and around the Des Moines area. She graduated from Valley High School in 1993 and went on to obtain a degree in Advertising from Iowa State University in 1998.
    After working as a veterinary technician for several years, she graduated from ISU College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011.
    She lives with her husband Aaron and children, Aidan and Nora in Des Moines along with 2 dogs, 2 cats, and several chickens.

    Dr. Amanda Clubine, DVM
    Veterinarian

    Dr. Clubine was born and raised in northeast Iowa. She attended undergraduate school and received her bachelor's degree from UNI in 2008. She then went onto veterinary school and graduated in 2012 from Iowa State University. After graduating, she moved and had been practicing veterinary medicine in the Chicagoland suburbs until moving back to Iowa in 2018.
    She and Derrek love being back home, living in Des Moines. They are both huge hockey fans, and get to as many Iowa Wild, Des Moines Buccaneers, and professional games as possible. They have two fur babies, Peaches and Mocha.
